Hudson's First Fourth

The 4th of July is one of my most favorite holidays.  I love to celebrate our freedom....especially with loved ones.
We started off our weekend by going to a Brazos Valley Bombers game on Friday night.  The Bombers are an intercollegiate team of players that play during the college off-season to get scouted.  We ran into the Cookie Monster, and Hudson loved him!  We thought he might be shy or scared, but he just grinned and held his arms out.

On Saturday, we went up to Wortham for the annual Jones Lake July 4th celebration picnic.  I have been going to this since I was little and love to go every year that we can.  It had been a few years since Dustin and I went last, so it was exciting to go and take Hudson to see all of our close family friends.  A picnic at a big tank with a springy diving board and good fishing can't be beat....especially when there is all the fried chicken you can eat and too many homemade desserts to count....and horseshoes and volleyball when it wasn't raining!

Hudson LOVED all the kids.

We were back in College Station Sunday and went out to the Bush School on the A&M campus to watch the fireworks that night.  Dus and I were curious as to how Hudson would react to the loudness, but he loved it.  He watched and talked and did his "touchdown" arms through the whole thing....not scared one bit.
We are so thankful for our freedom and this wonderful life we get to enjoy because of those who have sacrificed for us to live in such a wonderful free country.

Watching the fireworks.
Happy Independence Day!
