Little Pioneer

This past weekend we went up to Henrietta, Texas, to attend the annual Clay County Pioneer Reunion.  This third weekend of September is a tradition in Dustin's family that goes back years and years.  His mother's side of the family is from Henrietta, and they have been involved in Pioneer Reunion since its very early days.

We made it to the Friday night rodeo just in time (after Dustin accidentally locked the keys in the truck while it was running in our driveway in College Station)!  Saturday morning was the great parade, and Hudson waved and waved at all passing by.  After the parade, we always gather at the courthouse square for lunch, and then we go back to Dat's house for naps and fishing for the afternoon.  Saturday night is another rodeo and dance.  It was a great weekend, and we are sure Hudson loved his first of many Pioneer Reunions!

I have been a terrible poster the past couple of weeks.  Things have been a bit crazy around here as we have been traveling and house hunting and staying very busy!
As I mentioned before, Hudson is walking!  I have honestly tried every day this week to upload the video, but for some reason it say's "Uploading" for hours on end, and I have yet to successfully get it on here.  I will keep trying!
Last weekend we went up to Fort Worth for sweet cousin Jenny's wedding at the Botanical Gardens.  Absolutely beautiful!!  And just a tad bit hot....but so pretty!  That night we took Hudson to his first Ranger game!  He loved the first three innnings and then realized how hot it really was and was done.  We spent two more innings letting him crawl and walk around in the kids' section, and then the rain began to fall.  Ooooohh! I failed to mention first that we only got to go to the Ranger game because one of my best friends, Mrs. Taylor Eggleston, and her husband Jack had extra tickets and let us go with them!! Thank you!  When it began to rain, we followed them back to their house in Weatherford and spent the night there.  Thank you again!

These next pictures are just to celebrate the art of bedhead.  Hudson can sport it oh-so-well.  The first picture was Hudson yesterday BEFORE he took a nap.  And the rest....well...just marvel and appreciate.  Bedhead at its finest!

Today we are off to Henrietta, Texas, for the famous family tradition of Pioneer Reunion.  It is Hudson's first to attend!  Plenty of pictures to come!  Blessings and have a great weekend!

Baby Steps

Literally.....Baby steps.  Hudson is walking! Well....semi-walking.  He takes 4-8 steps toward something that really intrigues him, and then falls or decides to crawl because he knows he can get there faster on his knees.  His "first" steps were a couple of weeks ago while Dustin and I were in Bossier City.  We heard he was taking 3 steps between the couch and chair in Wortham to get Goldfish crackers from Grandaddy.  Since then, he has slowly been adding strides to his trips to the cracker, straw, ball, bathtub, or whatever it is he wants to get to.  I have noticed in the last couple of days he is starting to take steps toward something all on his own without any "come on's!" or "go go go's!".  I will look over, and he is just stepping along on his own....and then plops down.  So, now that he is doing it without lots of encouragement, I just know he is days away from taking off.
We have yet to get it on video, so stand by! I am sure we will get it on here soon!

Growing Boy

Hudson had his 1 year well-baby appointment yesterday.  He was just under 21 pounds and 32 inches long.  For the grandparents, this puts him in the 90th percentile for height and the 25th percentile for weight....which means he is "long and lean" according to the Doc.  He is healthy in every way and growing like a weed.  Have you seen this boy's foot?  I just want to know how many one-year-olds wear a size 5 shoe?!

And now for a very important announcement....I am almost scared to say anything because I don't want to jinx anything but....since the day Hudson turned 1, he has decided to sleep from 9:30pm to 7:00am every night.  Shhhh....please don't say it out loud or tell him I told.  We would love for this to continue.  Why???  Because he has never done this.  Ever.  Until this week, he would wake up about every 4 hours or less.  I guess he was just waiting until his birthday to make the change.  It is wonderful!!  I hope I didn't ruin it for tonight!
