Birthdays in Tyler

Sorry...I am a little behind on my weekend update.  It has been a fast start to the week, and we are already at Thursday.
This past weekend we went over to Tyler to celebrate Ben's 4th and Dat's 80th birthdays.  We had a great time at Mindi and Jeff's home and enjoyed getting to see everyone.  Hudson loved watching and playing with Ben, his big cousin.  I have a feeling these two are going to be getting into trouble with each other in a few years.

Curtain Call

This is an everyday occurrence at our house....sometimes two and three times a day! Our french doors to the backyard have curtains, but they are put up with a cheap rod that is held up by magnets on each end that are not very strong.  Even though I always pull them back during the day, Hudson finds a way to get himself into them....and then they eventually fall down around him.  And HE LOVES IT.  He thinks it is hilarious to be tangled in all that blue material (that probably has more dust than I want to think about all over it).

Not Just Yet!!

Our sweet boy is on his way to walking!  It is exciting but revealing of how fast time has gone by.  We are just not ready for our baby to grow up so fast....walking now...then driving before we know it!!  We got him this litte push toy thinking he would just play with the buttons for a while and was not going to "push" it for at least a few weeks....boy, were we wrong!  We didn't show him a thing, and the second day he had it he was pushing it around like he knew exactly what he was supposed to do!  We were watching the World Cup championship on a cozy pallet in the living room floor just after a great sermon at church and a big Sunday lunch at Cotton Patch. Next thing we knew, we was rolling and walking!

Take 1

Take 2

Last week, Hudson and I took a day trip to the Cypress Outlet mall.  He loved the little rides there....and strolling around outside to shop.  He did some swimming out on the back porch a couple of nights too.

Hudson's First Fourth

The 4th of July is one of my most favorite holidays.  I love to celebrate our freedom....especially with loved ones.
We started off our weekend by going to a Brazos Valley Bombers game on Friday night.  The Bombers are an intercollegiate team of players that play during the college off-season to get scouted.  We ran into the Cookie Monster, and Hudson loved him!  We thought he might be shy or scared, but he just grinned and held his arms out.

On Saturday, we went up to Wortham for the annual Jones Lake July 4th celebration picnic.  I have been going to this since I was little and love to go every year that we can.  It had been a few years since Dustin and I went last, so it was exciting to go and take Hudson to see all of our close family friends.  A picnic at a big tank with a springy diving board and good fishing can't be beat....especially when there is all the fried chicken you can eat and too many homemade desserts to count....and horseshoes and volleyball when it wasn't raining!

Hudson LOVED all the kids.

We were back in College Station Sunday and went out to the Bush School on the A&M campus to watch the fireworks that night.  Dus and I were curious as to how Hudson would react to the loudness, but he loved it.  He watched and talked and did his "touchdown" arms through the whole thing....not scared one bit.
We are so thankful for our freedom and this wonderful life we get to enjoy because of those who have sacrificed for us to live in such a wonderful free country.

10 Months!

Happy 10 Months, sweet boy!!  We can't believe you are getting so big so fast.  Everything just needs to slow down.  You have grown so much just in the last couple of weeks!
You are crawling everywhere using your left knee and your right foot....and you are pulling up on anything and everything that will hold you!  You love eating big people food....especially anything mama and daddy are eating.  You are getting louder and louder each day with yells of, "Yayayaya!"  You love to take baths and stand beside me as I clean out the bathtub before you get in and pat me on the shoulder like, "Good job, mom."  You give sugars and shake your head no.....and say, "mama, daddadadd, yay, and hi".  We love your motor sound anytime you see your trucks or tractors, and your "touchdown" arm-raise is the cutest thing ever.  Reading books is one of your most favorite things to do next to going outside.   Mama's most favorite time in the world is rocking you to sleep each night.  Daddy's favorite time is coming home and seeing your excited smile in the afternoons.
We love you so much and can't believe that a whole year ago we were impatiently awaiting your arrival.
